Special Engineered Single Pass Machines

In addition to our standard models of bore honing systems, we provide the option of special engineered products or the capability of designing and manufacturing machines to a specific need and specification. We realize that every application and process is unique thus, only a custom solution can truly solve your honing system needs.  Barnes is confident with our advanced engineering and design capabilities a cost effective and productive solution can be designed for your particular application.  For example with our vertical spindle single pass honing machines we offer bore diameter capacity up to 10” (254 mm) and length capacity up to 75” (1905 mm).  Options including automatic load/unload and transfer capability, pre-hone probing and post-process gauging.  Transfer capability includes tip-up, lateral and rotary indexing fixtures.  In order to ensure uninterrupted operation and accuracy pre-hone “probe” features can be added for measuring incoming stock removal as well as post-process gauging for diameter size control.  Another option available is the use of deburring station(s) and/or deburring tool(s). Ease of operation is made possible with a PLC based control system and operator interface for total system interaction and process control.
